Our Technical Directorates

Specialized directorates working together to regulate Ghana's petroleum downstream sector.

Economic Regulation & Planning Directorate

The Economic Regulation and Planning (ER&P) Directorate of NPA has oversight responsibility over the supply of petroleum products into and out of Ghana and ensuring the efficient pricing of petroleum products while promoting fair competition amongst players in the petroleum downstream industry in Ghana.

Gas Directorate

The Gas Department of the National Petroleum Authority is newly established and handles all activities in the operations of natural gas, which stems from processing, and storage, through the distribution transmission.

IM & HSE

The Inspections, Monitoring and Health, Safety and Environment (IM&HSE) Directorate is one of the Technical Directorates of the Authority. The object of the Directorate is to inspect and monitor infrastructure and operational activities of Petroleum Service Providers (PSPs) to assure reliability, availability, and safety of the petroleum downstream industry infrastructure for effective and efficient petroleum services delivery for sustainable growth to secure the interest of all stakeholders.

Licensing Directorate

Granting licenses and permits to Petroleum Service Providers in the downstream industry.

Quality Assurance Directorate

The Quality Assurance Directorate is mandated to ensure the quality and integrity of petroleum products on the Ghanaian market.

Unified Petroleum Price Fund

The UPPF ensures that petroleum products reach the consumer wherever they live in Ghana efficiently and that fuel is transported throughout the country in a manner that is simple, effective and inexpensive to operate administratively.
