Introduction
The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your personal information when you visit our website.
Information We Collect
We may collect personal information that you voluntarily provide through contact forms, including your name, email address, and message content. We also store limited preference data on your device (described under Cookies) so the site can remember choices such as theme and consent.
How We Use Your Information
Your information is used to respond to enquiries, improve our services, and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
Cookies
This website uses cookies and similar browser storage technologies (local storage and session storage) to keep the site working as you expect. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies on this site. The data we store on your device is:
- Cookie consent preference
What is stored: The value "true" under the key npa-cookie-consent in local storage.
Why it is stored: To remember that you have acknowledged the cookie notice.
What it is used for: Hiding the cookie consent banner on later visits so you are not asked again on every page. - Theme preference
What is stored: One of "light", "dark", or "system" under the key theme in local storage.
Why it is stored: To remember your display preference between visits.
What it is used for: Applying light or dark mode (or following your system setting) when the site loads, including before the page fully renders. - Assistant illustration preference
What is stored: Either "male" or "female" under the session-storage key npa-chat-bot-gender for the duration of your browser session only.
Why it is stored: To alternate the on-page assistant illustrations during a single visit.
What it is used for: Choosing which avatar image to show in features such as the chat assistant and related empty states. This data is cleared when you close the browser tab or window. - Third-party embeds (YouTube and Google Maps)
What is stored: Cookies or similar data set by YouTube or Google when an embedded video or map is shown on a page.
Why it is stored: These providers need them to deliver video playback and interactive maps.
What it is used for: Enabling embedded YouTube videos and Google Maps on pages such as Contacts and Media Center. Those providers process data under their own privacy policies; we do not control their cookies.
You can clear local and session storage, and block or delete cookies, through your browser settings. Clearing site data may reset your theme preference and show the cookie notice again. By continuing to use our site after seeing the cookie notice, you consent to this use of cookies and similar technologies as described above.
Data Protection
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction, in accordance with applicable data protection regulations.
